Saint James Chapter 2 Verse 18
Saint James calls on us to prove our faith by carrying out good deeds; calling on prayer for inspiration and support but carrying our faith through to helping our fellow man with practical support. This is a call echoed many times in the scriptures but one which we all find difficult to respond to, especially if it involves being in the public eye.
Each in their own quiet way, there are examples of members’ “outreach” in our Parish which should be encouraged, supported and even emulated by even more actions.
At Christmas we support prisoners with a Christmas greeting and disadvantaged children with presents.
As a parish we respond generously to all appeals made in the parish for special causes.
As individuals we offer lifts to those not able to easily access Mass on Sundays.
Individual parishioners help with meal rotas at St Paul’s Hostel, support Maggs day centre for the homeless in Worcester and help with refugee care in Birmingham.
Each of these actions is a prayer and a demonstration of our faith. As most of these actions are carried out by people not seeking the limelight please contact the Parish Priest (fr.george.mathew@rcaob.org.uk) if you would like to become more involved in any aspect of putting our faith into action.
